Obituaries Police Blotter Guerin on way to sainthood BY CATHRYN GRAN STAFF WRITER The person a River Grove institution is named for is on the path to sainthood.

Mother Theodore Guerin, who in 1840 founded the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods in Indiana, has been cleared for sainthood, said Sister Nancy Nolan, president of Guerin Prep High School, at a recent River Grove Chamber of Commerce luncheon.

Mother Guerin was born Anne-Therese Guerin on Oct.

2, 1798, in village of Etables, which is in the Cote du Nord region of France, according to information provided by the Archdiocese of Indianapolis.

In 1823, she entered the Sisters of Providence of Ruille-sur-Loir, France, which was a community of religious women who served as teachers and cared for the sick.
