STM got lucky when a US client was asked to put together products for the gift basket, and thought of them.

All the nominees will take home STM's iPod case.

It will also be given to presenters such as past Oscar winners and A-list celebrities Tom Hanks, Jamie Foxx, Hilary Swank and Nicole Kidman.

But it almost ended in disaster: there was a last-minute rush to get the order to the US after the manufacturer failed to meet the deadline.

"We were frantically trying to get there on time, it was constant hammering on the phone," Mr Nyholm said.

While he said he does not usually watch the Oscars, Mr Nyholm said he will be tuning in next Sunday.

"I'll see if I can catch anyone with a basket with our product inside.

It's extremely difficult to measure [the value of] this kind of thing but we should hope to see a spike in the sales."
