The procedure's purpose is to improve a patient's near vision without the use of reading glasses.

Food and Drug Administration approved the clinical trial, and for two years, Durrie and his team of seven will follow the inlay's effectiveness on 75 people.

These patients must have healthy eyes and be between the ages of 45 to 55.
